OVERVIEW
NASA is sponsoring a workshop on the NRC Decadal Survey mission called CLARREO (Climate Absolute Radiance and Refractivity Observatory) on July 17-19, 2007 at The Inn and Conference Center at the University of Maryland University College. CLARREO is one of the first missions listed in the Decadal Survey and represents a vision to make a wide range of satellite observations more useful for climate change studies. The primary goals of this workshop are to discuss the science objectives of the CLARREO mission, the requirements of the mission as defined by the science questions, the current state of technology as it relates to the science and requirements, the technology needed to reach the defined goals of CLARREO, and the correlations of all the conceptual instrument components as they relate to achieving the defined science goals. These discussions will provide the basis for the community to define the next steps required to make the CLARREO mission a reality in the near future.
